Just thought I would share this very simple experience of updating my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition LTE with Android 4.4.2 KitKat since Samsung obviously can't be bothered doing it themselves.
Go to the Sam Mobile create a login and download the latest firmware from here. Make sure that you have the correct model which in my case was SM-P605. You can find this out on your device by going to Settings - General - About device - Model number. Once you have done so follow the below instructions and viola.

- Extract (unzip) the firmware file
- Download Odin v3.09
- Extract Odin zip-file
- Open Odin v3.09
- Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
- Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
