Did you know it is possible to register you mobile phone to receive text message reminders of events in your
Google Calendar? It's easy to do and will ensure you never miss a meeting again but best of all it's completely free. To enable your phone to receive
SMS reminders from your
Google Calender do the following.
- Open Google Calendar and click the Settings gear icon at the top right.
- Once inside the Settings page click on the Mobile Setup tab.
- Select your country from the Country drop down menu and enter your phone number in the Phone Number field. Further down select your carrier from the drop down menu and then click the Send Verification Code button. Once you have received the verification message, enter the code you received in the Verification Code field and click Save.
- Once you have verified your mobile you may now set up notifications on calendar events to SMS you at a predefined time before the event. In the example below I have requested an SMS reminder 1 hour before the event.
