A Month in Software (01-10-2012)

My next month in software article brings me to one of the most valuable software utilities, Daemon Tools Lite. A virtual DVD-ROM emulator that I have used well forever whether it be to emulate a second DVD/ROM drive or to replace one where one might be faulty or non-existent particularly in notebooks.

Daemon Tools Lite

An advanced application for Microsoft Windows which provides one of the best optical media emulation in the industry. DAEMON Tools enables you to convert your physical CD/DVD discs into "virtual discs" so called "images". It also emulated up to 4 virtual CD/DVD drives, so you can mount (insert) and unmount (eject) images.

  • Pros: The ability to mount and create iso, *.mds/*.mdf and *.mdx images of CD, DVD, Blu-ray discs.
  • Cons: Has limited ability compared to the Standard and Advanced Pro versions.
  • Available editions: Daemon Tools Pro Advanced, Daemon Tools Pro Standard, Daemon Tools Lite, Daemon Tools Lite for Mac, Daemon Tools Net.
  • Used for: Use for all Microsoft Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems.
  • Installation: Installation is fairly simple and mostly automated through the executable file.
